Starting in 2008 as the Coachella Valley Dog Club, All Big Canines (ABC) evolved in 2018 to serve the growing needs of the Coachella Valley dog community. ABC focuses on providing safe, welcoming spaces for Large, Extra Large, and Giant Breed Dogs, while also offering services for dogs of all sizes. Our facility is specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of big dogs, including training, play, and socialization areas.
We are dedicated to assisting shelters and rescues in the Coachella Valley and beyond by offering evidence-based volunteer education and staff support programs. We also provide behavior support and resources for dogs and pigs in shelters, aiming to improve adoption retention rates. Located on 5 acres in scenic Sky Valley, California, just minutes from Palm Springs and Indio, we offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of big dogs and their owners.
Through community-focused initiatives, such as our partnership with Esperanza's Second Chance Sanctuary, we work to reduce the number of dogs surrendered to shelters by increasing access to resources and support. ABC proudly offers the Coachella Valley’s first low-income and accessible training programs, including sliding scale options for underrepresented groups. We also provide field rentals for sport classes and opportunities for other trainers to host evidence-based workshops, promoting responsible pet ownership and helping keep dogs in their homes.
Tabitha Davies - Animal Welfare Advocate, Educator, and Consultant
Hello, my name is Tabitha Davies. Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada, I moved to Southern California in the 90s. My dream of becoming a veterinarian began in elementary school and blossomed in High School, where I worked as veterinary support staff in Palm Desert. It was there, at the age of 14, that I realized how many dogs were being euthanized due to behavior issues, with little access to trainers in our area. This sparked my passion for canine behavior, and I dedicated myself to learning everything I could from local libraries and veterinary mentors.
Alongside my rich history specializing in canine behavior disorders and sports training, helping connect people and pets to live better lives, I also bring almost two decades of experience in animal welfare. I have worked extensively with shelters, rescues, and dog daycare and boarding facilities across the U.S. and Canada. My expertise spans staff development, volunteer education, and stress-reduction strategies for animals in high-intake shelters. I focus on creating humane, fear-free environments, training staff on animal handling, behavior assessment, and enrichment techniques to support both animals and staff alike.
In addition to my work with shelters, I assist Esperanza’s Sanctuary , a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, where I develop community outreach programs that provide post-adoption support, behavior counseling, and resources to help new pet owners. These efforts aim to reduce animal returns to shelters and ensure successful transitions for pets and their families. I’ve presented at notable platforms, including the Pet Professional Guild , The Association for Professional Dog Trainers , and the
International Boarding and Pet Services Association . My work has also been featured in journals from the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
and the Pet Professional Guild .
In addition to my consulting work, I run a nonprofit farm sanctuary that is home to rescued goats, horses, chickens, tortoises, turtles, a pig, cats, and dogs. Alongside my four wonderful children and my supportive partner, I continue to dedicate my life to creating compassionate spaces where animals and humans alike can thrive.
